Charles and Ray Eames first designed the Eames Plastic Chairs over 60 years ago and are still, to this day, an extremely popular seating range. They are counted as some of the most important furniture designs of the entire 20th century. This is simply due their durability and being the first ever plastic side and armchairs to be manufactured using industrial procedures.

The seat height of the Eames Plastic Chairs were originally designed with a seat height of 810mm, but since then the average height of people has increased worldwide by circa 10cm. In lieu of this, Vitra have increased the seat height of the chairs by 20mm to adapt to the ever growing Human. As well as increasing the seat height, Vitra have collaborated with the Dutch designer Hella Jongerius to come up with six new shell colours. So, with 14 shell and 28 upholstery colours the Eames Plastic Chairs offer over 400 different combinations!
