Charles and Ray Eames have combined the organically shaped shell with a four-legged wooden base. The pairing of plastic and wood gives this classic design a certain warmth and casual appeal – particularly when mixed with the optional seat cushion.

- Seat shell: Dyed-through, glass-fibre reinforced polyester (fibreglass), whose characteristic irregular surface may exhibit a varying pattern of fibres or deviations in colour as well as small specks of pigmentation.
- Base: Non-stackable wooden base in various shades of maple or honey-toned ash, stained and lacquered finish.
- Steel rod cross struts in basic dark.
- Origin of wood: Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) and Maple (Acer platanoides) from Western Europe and/or Poland.
